Eminem received his BRIT Billion Award for exceeding 7 billion UK career streams

One of Eminem’s most well-known tracks, “Love the Way You Stream,” could have its lyrics changed. The BPI, which is the trade association for the top music labels in the United Kingdom, has bestowed a Brit Billiоn Award upon the American rapper.

The accolade is given to musicians who have amassed over one billiоn career streams in the United Kingdom; Eminem has surpassed this milestone seven times. According to the Official Charts Company, he has amassed seven billiоn streams in the United Kingdom.

In the UK, fifteen of Eminem’s songs have received multiplatinum certification. More than 770 million streams have been made in the United Kingdom of his top three most streamed songs: “Without Me,” the Oscar-winning “Lose Yourself,” and “Love the Way You Lie” with Rihanna.

Eleven No. 1 hits and eleven No. 1 albums have been achieved by Eminem on the Official U.K. Singles and Albums charts. (For context, he has 11 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and five No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hоt 100.)

A Brit Billiоn award has been given to 39 acts in total. Global icons like Green Day, The Rolling Stones, Queen, ABBA, and Whitney Houston are among the artists on the roster; pioneers of rap and hip-hop, like AJ Tracey and Headie One, are also included; and pop artists and singer-songwriters who dominate the charts, like Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Camila Cabello, Lewis Capaldi, and Raye, are among them.

The Brit Billiоn award, which was first presented in 2023, is a testament to the degree to which streaming has changed the music industry in the last ten years. Currently, streaming accounts for over 85% of recorded music consumption in the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom saw a record 180 billiоn audio streams in 2023. Over 2,000 musicians in the UK now receive at least 10 million audio streams a year, and over 10,000 artists receive over a million streams.
