The A-list can still be included by DJ Premier. On Friday, July 26, the renowned producer will release a brand-new track, he confirmed. Bars from Big Sean, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne will be featured on the single “Ya Don’t Stop.”
The DJ scratch chorus is almost audible already. Although there is a lot of skill on the list, the thing that most people were interested in wasn’t the song itself. Throughout 2024, Rozay has been disparaging Aubrey Drake Graham. Conversely, Lil Wayne has been among the select handful who has consistently remained in the 6 God’s corner. Is there not an interest conflict here?
Of course, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne are collaborators outside of Drake. For almost 20 years, the two rappers have been working together. The problem is that Drake was the unifying factor behind their greatest hits. The foundations of “I’m on One,” “No New Friends,” and “Pop That” are Drizzy bars, and occasionally Drizzy hooks.
Ross has made it apparent with the release of a diss track and other jokes on social media that he has no interest in working with the Toronto rapper. All summer long, Ross has been playing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” nonstop. Conversely, Lil Wayne attempted to alter the words of “Not Like Us,” and as a result, he was jeered.
Since DJ Premier is a respected name, it is reasonable to think that Ross and Wayne will put their disagreements aside. Strangely, Drake is the only rapper in the group to have a DJ Premier beat on their album. Preemo was tapped by the Toronto rapper for the 2018 song “Sandra’s Rose.” To give Ross and Wayne their due, the rappers have experienced comparable stressful situations in the past. Both men have expressed their dissatisfaction with Cash Money founder Birdman on record. The drama surrounding “Splash Brothers” also occurred in April.
Drake, Ross, and Wayne’s posse cut “Splash Brothers” was set to be released by French Montana. Then, French omitted Drake from the finished draft at the last minute. Drake was suspected of being the cause of the alteration, although there is no concrete evidence to support this theory. Wayne and Ross appear to have managed to keep their friendship despite their recent arguments. Especially with Big Sean tossed in for good measure, we can’t wait to hear them over DJ Premier production. We’ll also be on the lookout for any subliminal messages from Ross.
