Snoop Dogg will be one of the last torchbearers for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games. He will carry the torch right before it reaches the Eiffel Tower.
On Tuesday, July 23, the mayor of Saint-Denis, France, made the announcement of Snoop’s latest job on social media. According to TMZ, actress Laetitia Casta and French rapper MC Solaar will accompany the iconic musician.
Snoop responded by posting a screenshot of an article about the honor on Instagram along with the words, “You got to do it! Are you going to be watching? #FollowTheDogg #OlympicsinParis
Not unrelatedly, Snoop will now be a part of NBCUniversal’s game coverage.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Snoop Dogg will converse with Mike Tirico, the host of NBC Olympics, and offer his “unique take” on the events taking place in Paris. Along with the Olympic games and festivities, he plans to “explore the city’s iconic landmarks and make visits to the athletes, their friends, and families.”
When it was announced earlier this year that Snoop would be covering the Olympics, he told the publication, “I grew up watching the Olympics and am thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris.” It’s an honoring of talent, commitment, and striving for excellence. There will be some incredible competitions, and I will undoubtedly add my signature Snoop style to the mix.
“It will be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned and keep it locked,” he said. Let’s raise the bar, have fun, and create memories from these games. Let the best players win like gold. Olympic LOVE and peace, ya dig?
“Snoop is already an Olympic gold medal commentator, generating tens of milliоns of views for his highlights commentary on Peacock of the dressage competition during the Tokyo Olympics,” stated Molly Solomon, executive producer and president of NBC Olympics Production. Snoop is now working for us in Paris as our Special Correspondent just because of that performance.
“We’re not sure what the heck will happen every day, but we do know he’ll bring his distinct viewpoint to our reimagined primetime Olympic show.”
