Cardi B and Sha’Carri Richardson Get Their Nails Done and Talk Paris Olympics: ‘I Will Come Just for You’
The 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris are shaping up to be an exciting event, and Cardi B and Sha’Carri Richardson are already buzzing with anticipation!
In a new promotional video for NBC, the American track star, 24, and the rapper, 31, bond over their shared excitement for the upcoming Games while enjoying one of their favorite self-care activities—getting manicures.
Meeting for the first time to film the segment, which aired on May 4 during NBC’s broadcast of the Kentucky Derby, the duo chatted about what it takes to prepare for the world’s biggest sporting event. Cardi B, curious about the rigorous training involved, asked Richardson about her daily routine.
“A 9-to-5 in corporate is my 9-to-5 on the track working out,” Richardson explained, detailing her five-day training schedule with two days off.
Richardson emphasized the dedication required to excel in her sport, saying, “It’s worth the hard work, it’s worth the sacrifices. In those moments it shows that this is why I do what I do.” The sprinter, who earned the title of fastest woman in the world after setting a record in the 100-meter race at the World Track and Field Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in August 2023, shared her resolve to overcome any obstacles in her path.
Reflecting on her past challenges, including her disqualification from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics due to a positive marijuana test, Richardson said, “I have no plans of letting life, adversity, any obstacle [stop] me from being in Paris.”
Cardi B expressed her love for Paris, saying, “Paris is like one of my favorite places in the world. When the Olympics is in a lit city, it changes the mood.” Richardson agreed, adding, “I feel like the fun is gonna be restored.”
At the end of the video, Richardson invited Cardi B to watch her compete in Paris. “I will come just for you… and shopping,” Cardi B promised.
Coverage of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris begins on NBC and Peacock on July 26.
