Patti LaBelle Teases Collaborations with Cardi B & Gladys Knight for Her New Album ‘8065’
Patti LaBelle, who celebrated her 80th birthday on May 24, continues to prove that age is just a number. With a career spanning over six decades, the iconic songstress shows no signs of slowing down as she hints at exciting collaborations for her upcoming album.
In a recent interview with ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at her surprise birthday party, an emotional LaBelle reflected on her remarkable career, her enduring health, and the friendships she’s built in the industry. She also revealed some tantalizing details about her plans for 2024, including unexpecteԀ musical partnerships.
Following her surprising culinary collaboration with Cardi B last year, LaBelle hinted at another project with the chart-topping rapper. “Why not? She’s like one of my new best friends,” LaBelle said about the possibility of a duet with the ‘Bodak Yellow’ star. “To know that [Cardi] was into Patti LaBelle. She’s like my new buddy.”
If this collaboration materializes, it will be one of the many highlights on LaBelle’s forthcoming album, “8065.” “It should be out at the end of this year and it’s called 8065,” LaBelle shared. “I’m 80 years young and 65 years in show business.”
While the only confirmed guest on the album so far is LaBelle’s longtime friend, the Empress of Soul, Gladys Knight, previous reports suggest that other superstars, including Mariah Carey, Jazmine Sullivan, and Ledisi, may also contribute to the project.
In addition to the new album, LaBelle’s fans can look forward to hearing some of the new tracks live, as she is reportedly gearing up for a new tour.
