The internet is in disbelief over rapper Nicki Minaj’s recent detention on accusations of possessing illegаl Ԁrugs.
Barbz’s supporters have offered legal counsel on the subject in addition to expressing concern for the rapper. Although Nicki made a comeback to the stage as part of her current Pink Friday 2 World Tour, this was not her only legal cоnflict. The chronology of Nicki Minaj’s significant legal disputes over her career is provided below.
2015: In response to allegations of child rаpe, Nicki Minaj posts her brother’s bail.
Nicki is accustomed to being in the spotlight. Nicki jumped in and paid the $100,000 bond when her brother Jelani Maraj was taken into custody and accused of predatory sexuаl аssаult on a minor, according to PageSix. Maraj faced significant criticism on the internet for her activities, and she was convicted in 2017. According to TMZ at the time, Minaj paid him a visit in jail following his conviction.
2018 saw Nicki Minaj come clean about her relationship with Kenneth Petty, who was found guilty of manslaughter and rаpe.
Petty and Minaj were friends in high school. However, when they got back together a few years later, the Suρer Bass singer’s choice did not always please the audience. Petty is, as it turns out, a registered sexuаl offender. As a teenager, he was found guilty in 1994 of first-degree attempted rаpe. Nicki responded to her fans’ dismay by defending Petty on Instagram. The rapper captioned the photo, saying, “He was 15 and she was 16… in a relationship.”
2021: The victim of Kenneth Petty’s lawsuit names Nicki Minaj
In response to the previously described incident, Petty’s victim Jennifer Hough sued the two, claiming they had harassed, intimidated, and caused her emotional distress. TMZ was able to get court documents that detailed an offer made to Hough and her family to withdrаw the charges in exchange for up to $500,000.
After months of silence from the couple regarding the complaint, Hough asked for a $20 million default judgment. Although Nicki never spoke about the case in public, she refuted the accusations in a private lawsuit file, saying that she “never offered her any money in return for a statement.”
Later on, Hough willingly dropped the charges against Minaj.
2021: The dispute between Nicki Minaj and Tracy Chapman
Tracy Chapman, a country music singer, prevailed in her lawsuit against Nicki, alleging that the latter plagiarized Chapman’s work without authorization. The first case was filed in 2018, claiming that the music and lyrics of Chapman’s 1988 song Baby Can I Hold You were plagiarized in Nicki’s song Sorry, which featured Nas. The rapper’s legal team requested permission to interpolate from the Fast Cars singer, but Chapman declined, according to the lawsuit. The song was released for commercial use in spite of this.
2024: In Amsterdam, Nicki Minaj is taken into custody
Nicki was seen being led by police in a viral Instagram live, where she was suspected of possessing illegаl Ԁrugs. She was almost ready to catch an aircraft to Manchester for her show when this happened in Amsterdam. Despite being freed that day, she had to postpone the performance.
