Nas might replace Diddy as demand mounts to remove his honorary key to NYC.
After CCTV footage showed the Bad Boy mogul attacking Cassie, NYC council members have urged mayor Eric Adams to return the symbolic key.
Several council members told TMZ, including Sandy Nurse: “Mayor Adams should immediately revoke Diddy’s key to the city. Abuser Diddy lost his honor and should be held accountable. Mayor Adams should set and remove the example.”
Council member Shaun Abreu said: “Mayor Adams should grab Diddy’s key and slam the door. We won’t miss you.”
Council member Justin Brannan suggested Nas as a Diddy successor, calling the Queensbridge rapper the “G.O.A.T.”
Diddy acquired the city key last September, two months before Cassie sued him for sexual assault and other offenses, but mayor Adams has considered revoking it.
Adams told PIX11 last week: “I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him.
The speaker stated that the committee and team are currently discussing the next steps after never rescinding a key previously. I’ll get a decision from the team after we analyze everything.”
CNN received evidence of Diddy brutally attacking Cassie in a hotel corridor in 2016 late last week.
The mogul runs out of his hotel room in a towel and throws the singer to the floor while she waits for an elevator.
She gets kicked and stomped as she lies on the floor before he drags her to his hotel room. He also pushes her against a wall while she uses a hotel phone and throws a vase at her on CCTV footage.
Diddy apologized for the video, saying he was at “rock bottom” at the time.
My behavior on the video is unforgivable. My acts in that video are my responsibility. It disgusts me. I felt disgusted during it. I’m disgusted,” he said in a solemn Instagram video.
