Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs confessed to abusing Cassie, born Casandra Ventura. The video statement, posted on Instagram, comes two days after CNN released CCTV evidence of the March 2016 Los Angeles hallway аssаult.
In a video for his 20 million Instagram followers, Combs, 54, said: “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that. I was fuckeԀ. At my lowest point, I make no excuses. That video shows my unacceptable actions. My acts in that video are my responsibility. It disgusts me. My actions appalled me then and now.”
He added: “I sought professional help. I needed rehab and treatment. God’s mercy and grace were needed. So sorry. But I strive to improve daily. Not requesting forgiveness. I’m sorry.”
The post read “I’m truly sorry,” echoing his words.
The clip shows Combs sprinting down a hotel corridor in a white towel and beating Ventura, who appears to be trying to leave via an elevator. She is thrown to the ground and kicked.
Cassie Settles Rаpe and Abuse Lawsuit Against Sean Combs
Homeland Security raided Combs’ Los Angeles and Miami houses in March amid allegations of physical and sexuаl abuse.
Ventura, 37, sued Combs in Manhattan Federal District Court in November 2023 for years of physical and sexuаl abuse. Ventura sued under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which permitted accusers to sue after the statute of limitations.
Combs and Ventura met in 2005, when she was 19 and he was 37. Court filings show the abuse began soon after. The couple dated intermittently from 2007 till 2018.
CNN’s CCTV footage matches Ventura’s lawsuit’s allegatiоn of a Los Angeles hotel event.
Ventura and Combs settled one day after she sued. Singer Ventura stated, through her attorney Douglas Wigdor, that “I have opted to conclude this dispute peacefully on conditions that I have some control. Many thanks to my family, fans, and lawyers for their persistent support.”
Combs, who has gone as Puff Daddy, Puffy, Diddy, and Love, confirmed the settlement in a statement. “We will settle this amicably. I wish Cassie and her family well. “Love,” he said.
Combs’ team emailed TIME a statement from his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman.
“Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing,” said Brafman. “Mr. Combs’ settlement does not negate his denial of the claims. He is pleased they reached a deal and wishes Ms. Ventura well.”
