‘You are everything to me, I don’t need to marry another woman’ – Drake is determined to become a single father to raise Adonis well
The rapper revealed in June 2018 that he and Sophie Brussaux became parents to a baby named Adonis. He said that being able to share the news with the world felt “freeing.”
He remarked, “It was great for me,” in an interview with fellow rapper Lil Wayne on Young Money Radio on Apple Music. It felt fantastic to simply share it with everyone, even though it wasn’t anything I had planned or even discussed with anybody.
One morning, when I woke up, I thought to myself, “You know what? This is just something I’d want to do.
Traveling and creating experiences with my kids are things I want to do. I don’t want to feel as if I’m forcing everyone to live under my thumb just because I made the decision to become a “celebrity.”
“So, all I wanted to do was get rid of that.”
Drake subsequently hailed the Young Money record company for enabling him to do the same, saying it was “inspiring” to watch his labelmates, like Lil Wayne, being able to concentrate on music and take care of their kids at the same time.
He said to Wayne, “I’ve watched you be a functioning rap father for years, an incredible father.” And it also really boosted my confidence.
Many of us, including [2] Chainz, are fantastic fathers, and many of the guys we grew up with were also excellent family men during those long studio nights when records needed to be finished.
“But in particular, you, and how much the people in your life love you, and how you always just made that function and work.”
He continued, saying, “And I could just tell that the time and effort that you put in as a father by the way your kids would stare at you.”
“So, knowing that I can still keep moving forward as a musician and be there for my son was really inspiring to me.”
Drake has hinted that he may release a new studio album this summer and has released an album of leaks and one-off songs titled the Dark Line Demo Tapes.
He is really indulging us.
