Cardi B Gets Candid About Rocky Relationship with Offset: ‘I Can’t Be a Wife’

Cardi B has revealed the real reasons behind her turbulent relationship with her husband, Offset, sharing that her career and children often take precedence over her marriage.

In a candid interview for Rolling Stone’s June issue, the 31-year-old rapper discussed her on-and-off relationship with Offset, her husband of nearly seven years and the father of their two children.

“When I met Offset, he was suρer rich, and I had just got my fing first $200,000 in the bank,” Cardi recalled, praising him for always treating her as an equal. “He actually always used to tell me, ‘You a fing superstar, watch.’”

Despite their strong connection, Cardi admitted that their relationship has been rocky due to their different backgrounds and personal issues. “We both have our own bad stuff,” she said, explaining that they come from “two different worlds.”

Cardi B confessed that her career often overshadows her ability to be a wife. “Sometimes I cannot be… not that I cannot be a wife. It’s just like, my career takes my life. My career comes first, then my kids come second. And then sometimes I don’t realize that I’m putting so many things before my relationship.”

Reflecting on their most recent, highly publicized split in December 2023, Cardi shared how Offset tried to encourage her to focus on herself. “I remember last year when we were going through our hard time. And [he was] like, ‘Put your album out. You’re overstressing. When was the last time we went on a vacation?’”

“And it’s like, ‘I don’t got time to go on a vacation, because this comes first,’” she admitted. “This comes first then my kids come second. The little things I have to take care of then come. I sometimes feel like I do probably put my relationship last.”

Cardi B has also faced pressure from fans regarding her music career. She decided to delay the release of her sophomore album after a heated exchange with fans who she felt were pressuring her too much.

Despite their ups and downs, Cardi B and Offset have reconciled and are working on their relationship. They were even seen together at a post-Met Gala party earlier this month, signaling a hopeful future for the couple.
