Cardi B Explains Why She Won’t Release a New Album This Year
Cardi B recently took to social media to reveаl why she won’t be releasing a new album this year, despite previously hinting at it. In a series of now-deleted tweets, the rapper expressed frustration with her fans and explained her decision.
Despite releasing a few singles, Cardi hasn’t dropped a full-length album since her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy, which included hits like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It.” Recently, she hinted at new music during an appearance on Complex’s 360 With Speedy, suggesting that a new album would arrive later this year.
However, things took a turn when a fan jokingly tweeted about Cardi’s repeated promises of new music, only to mock her for not delivering. The tweet read: “I’m so excited to put out new music. ‘I can’t wait to drop my album. Wait until I drop this song. Album coming soon,'” accompanied by a meme of two wоme𝚗 rolling their eyes.
Cardi Claps BackCardi quickly responded, stating, “No, the problem is that you were even complaining when I was dropping music as well. Always got some s**t to sаy wit ur 3 neck rolls [sic].”
This sparked further conversation, with another user asking, “Hollering cause you feel Һit?” Cardi replied, “No, it’s just annoying this means a lot to me and it’s always a complain and crying wit this p*y a fanbase.”
When the original critic continued, suggesting that Cardi’s fans only boost their egos, Cardi fired back, “Girl shut up you not here for nobody but to boost your ego cause in real life you overlooked. You can’t gaslight me.”
No New Album?A third user speculated that the album isn’t done and accused Cardi of blaming her fans for her own delays. Cardi confirmed, writing in all caps, “Yep it’s not done cause there is no album. Congrats, you won a prize for your answer. Here’s your prize,” adding a middle finger emoji.
Support and Final DecisionSome fans showed support, with one saying, “It’s time for her to pull back from social media platforms. Her engagement with fans is unappreciated.” Cardi agreed, stating, “Exactly. I tell myself this all the time, and I hate that I fall back and start interacting again, and it bites me in the a**. Anyway, NO album this year I don’t care. I’m relaxing this year… Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.”
Despite the controversy, Cardi celebrated a significant milestone by joining the Spotify Billions Club, which honors artists who have achieved over a billiоn streams on the platform. In her recent interview with Speedy Morman, Cardi reiterated that her next major announcement will indeed be an album, but for now, fans will have to wait a little longer.
