Over the past few months, Diddy’s reputation and popularity have plummeted due to a series of аssаult and harassment claims.
Billboard highlighted the businessman’s dropping radio spins after his ex-girlfriend Cassie accused him of rаpe and abuse last year on Monday (April 1). His catalog’s airplay has slowly diminished as more others have made similar accusations.
Two weeks before the first lawsuit on November 16, 2023, the 54-year-old’s music had 11,000 airplays and 23.3 million audience impressions, according to Luminate. The New York City native lost 28% of her airtime in two weeks after the case was filed, with 8,000 spins.
After Diddy was sued again for аssаult, his broadcasts fell 41% from November 24 to December 7, his worst drop.
The March 15–28 count shows that his songs only earned 1,000 plays with 4 million impressions, an 88% reduction in radio spins and 83% drop in audience reach since mid-November.
In February, producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones accused Diddy of harassment, drugging, and threatening him over a year.
A trigger warning on court documents states that the complaint contains “highly graphic information of a nature, including аssаult.” Also included are violent photographs of the aftermath of a shooting, redacted images of intercourse, kids, workers, and prostitutes, trafficking, and illegаl gu𝚗 and Ԁrug distribution.
Diddy’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, told HipHopDX: “Lil Rod is nothing more than a liar who filed a $30million lawsuit shamelessly looking for an undeserved payday. His wild nаme-dropping about fictional events is a blatant attempt to make headlines.
“We have strong evidence that his statements are 100% false. Tyrone Blackburn, [Lil Rod]’s attorney, has rejected our calls to provide this proof.
Before that, Diddy and Aaron Hall were accused of raping two wоme𝚗 “in 1990 or 1991.” After an industry gathering, Jane Doe and a friend were invited back to the R&B singer’s apartment, according to court filings. She says Diddy “coerced” her into that Hall “barged into the room, pinned her down and forced [her] to have with him.”
Doe says her buddy, who is not in the complaint, “had been forced to have with Combs and Hall in another room.” She also alleges that a “irate” Combs visited the lady and her friend days later, “choking Jane Doe to the point that she passed out,” prompting her medical attention.
“He was worried that she would tell the girl he was with at the time what he and Hall had done to them,” the suit says.
Diddy’s representative told HipHopDX: “These are fabricated claims falsely alleging misconduct from over 30 years ago and filed at the last minute. This is a scаm. Anonymous accusers who lie for money target Mr. Combs due to his reputation and success.
“The New York Legislature did not intend or expect scammers to exploit the Adult Survivors Act. The public should be skeptical and not believe these lies.”
Diddy received his third аssаult lawsuit in a week. Cassie, his girlfriend for a decade till 2018, accused him of rаpe and domestic viоlence. His lawyer said the settlement “is in no way an admission of wrongdoing.” He denied all charges and settled fast.
Joi Dickerson-Neal, the second plaintiff, alleges that Diddy drugged and assaulted her in the early 1990s while filming it.
He refuted these charges, saying through his spokesperson: “This last-minute lawsuit is an example of how a well-intentioned law can be turned on its head. The 32-year-old story by Ms. Dickerson is untrue. Mr. Combs never assaulted her, and she blames imaginary companies. This is just a money grab.”
Diddy claimed he was a victim of cancel culture in a request to dismiss his gаng-rаpe lawsuit in late February, before Lil Rod’s claims.
Homeland Security raided Diddy’s US properties last month, escalating the situation.
A federal executive department representative said: “Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners. More information will be provided when it becomes available.”
