TikTоk will ban users from using Taylor Swift’s music on TikTоk
TAYLOR SWIFT ERASES ALL TRACKS ON TIKTоK, TIKTоK USERS TO LOSE ACCESS TO UMG ARTISTS’ MUSIC STARTING TOMORROW
The root cause of this issue stems from unsuccessful negotiations between Universal Music Group (UMG) and TikTоk. UMG, the management company for Taylor Swift, stated, “TikTоk presented an offer to compensate our artists and songwriters, but the rates were only a fraction of what other social media platforms pay. Despite the platform’s rapidly growing user base, soaring advertising revenue, and its heavy reliance on music-related content, our revenue share from TikTоk remаins at a mere 1%.”
The roster of UMG artists, including Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Sting, The Weeknd, Alicia Keys, SZA, Steve Lacy, Drake, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Rosalía, Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Adele, U2, Elton John, J Balvin, Brandi Carlile, Coldplay, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, and Post Malone, will collectively remove all their songs from the TikTоk platform.
