Cardi B Applauds Bronx Rappers, Nostalgic for Teenage Years through Music
Despite her immense commercial success in the hip-hop scene, Cardi B remаins closely attuned to the emerging talent from her hometown borough of the Bronx. In a recent feature for Vogue Singapore, Cardi expressed admiration for the impact of young Bronx artists on her, noting how their music and vitality evoke memories of her own youth.
Reflecting on the burgeoning talent from the Bronx, Cardi remarked, “There are certain artists that are coming up from the Bronx—the way they act, the energy they bring; it reminds me of when I was a young teenager. It brings back so many memories. Now that I’m older, it makes me a little sad. I used to be so wild and free.”
While Cardi has yet to release her highly anticipated second album following her 2018 debut “Invasion of Privacy,” she has taken the opportunity to commend and support various artists from the Bronx. Earlier this year, she collaborated with incarcerated rapper Kay Flock on the track “Shake It,” which reached No. 51 on the Billboard Hоt 100. Additionally, Cardi made a surprise appearance at this year’s Hоt 97 Summer Jam to perform the track during fellow Bronx rapper B-Lovee’s set.
Although fans eagerly await her sophomore album, Cardi recently dropped her latest single, “Hоt Sh*t,” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk. The track debuted impressively at No. 13 on the Billboard Hоt 100 chart, adding to the mounting excitement surrounding her forthcoming album.
