Drake criticizes Grammys after losing 4 awards: ‘This show doesn’t decide anything’
Drake has criticized the Grammy Awards after leaving this year’s event without winning anything.
The Toronto star added that the awards event “doesn’t dictate sҺit in our world” while congratulating his fellow rappers who took home the gold on Sunday, February 4.
“Remember, all you amazing artists, that this show isn’t about the facts; rather, it’s about the viewpoint of a group of people whose identities are withheld. in the true sense. It’s Googleable,” he wrote.
“It’s great that someone in Hip Hop has won anything, but this show doesn’t control anything in our society.”
Additionally, Drizzy reposted his 2019 Best Rap Song acceptance speech, in which he rejected the notion of competing with other artists.
“We play in an opinion-based sport, not a fact-based sport,” he stated at the time. This isn’t the NBA. In this industry, there are occasions when a group of people make decisions that may not be aware of what a Canadian child of mixed race has to sаy. or my brother Travis, a brother from Houston, right there.
“If you are a hero in your hometown and have people chanting your songs word for word, you have already won. You don’t need this right now, I assure you; you’ve already won, if there are people with ordinary jobs who are spending their hard-earned money on tickets to your performances while walking outside in the rain or snow.
Drake’s joint album with 21 SavageHer Loss received a nomination for Best Rap Album. Additionally, the song “Rich Flex” by the duo was nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance, and “Spin Bout U” was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Kιller Mike defeated him for the first three prizes, and Lil Durk and J. Cole’s “All My Life” won Best Melodic Rap Performance.
Drake withdrew from the 2022 nomination process and has previously boycotted the Grammy Awards. He didn’t provide a clear explanation for his withdrawal or his decision to resubmit his work for review.
Following the enormous success of his After Hours album in 2020, The Weeknd was left out of the nominations for the awards event, which was also slammed by the OVO hitmaker. He remarked, “I think we should just accept that what was once the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exists now and the ones that come after. We should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards.”
It’s similar to expecting a relative to change, yet they simply refuse to alter their behavior. Along with a ton of other rational presumptions, I claimed the other day that @theweeknd was a lock for album or song of the year, but it simply never works out that way.
“Now is an excellent time for someone to start something new that we can develop over time and pass on to the next generation,” he continued.
