Drake’s unconventional appearance on the first night of his joint tour with J. Cole has gone viral once more.
Drizzy performed his It’s All a Blur — Big As the What? Tour debut on Friday, February 2, at Tampa, Florida’s Amalie Arena. Soon after, followers observed that he was wearing an attire that looked like a dinosaur spine, which sparked a variety of responses on social media.
Under a Complex post featuring the performance, someone said, “These stylist be in group chats like ‘watch what I put on this fool tonight,” and someone else wrote, “Why this man Drake wearing a velociraptor spinal cord.”
“This is what happens when you surround yourself with people who don’t tell you no,” a third social media user retorted.
It was evident who most likely designed the costume when Drizzy posted a photo of Japanese artist Shimoda Masakatsu wearing it on his Instagram Stories shortly after the performance. Masakatsu is well-known for his skeleton and dinosaur head sculptures that he created in association with Comme des Garçons.
Drake is shown wearing the ensemble in an Instagram post Masakatsu uploaded, which you can view below. “How cool is this?” was the Japanese caption he wrote on it. Another concert photo that the musician shared online.
Drake and J. Cole revealed earlier this month that they would be delaying their joint tour by two weeks. The journey, which was scheduled to begin on January 18 instead, was moved to February 2.
The concert series, which is sponsored by Visa and Cash App and produced by Live Nation, was initially revealed in November. While it only reaches as far as North America at the moment, there have been discussions regarding a European leg.
The Canadian superstar disclosed intentions to take his live show overseas during a December Kιck webcast with Roshtein.
He said to the host, “I think I’m going to tour in Europe,” but then he clarified it more. “Well, that might be an exclusive. Yes, I will most certainly be touring Europe in the upcoming year. We will undoubtedly embark on a tour in January.
The dates for the United States and Canada have formally begun and are scheduled to end in Denver, Colorado, on April 16.
