Drake hopes to break his tie with Justin Timberlake at the 2024 Grammy Awards
Drake’s feelings towards the Grammys are mixed. He sometimes looks ecstatic to win, but other times he withdraws his nominations and behaves as if he has no interest in attending the event. The Canadian rapper is nominated for many awards this year, and he hasn’t shown any dissatisfaction with these selections so far.
He is aiming to secure a significant victory in a particular field. Should he succeed, he will be able to separate himself from a tie with other notable athletes and climb the all-time rankings.
Drake will win the Best Melodic Rap Performance Grammy for the third time if he does it this year. Previously known as Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, the category is now a little more inclusive, which might make it harder to win.
The Grammy for the Canadian hip-hop artist’s song “Hotline Bling” was first awarded in 2017. He continues to be one of the few champions to receive this accolade by himself; normally, partners or groups claim it. Alongside Future and Tems, he took home another win last year for the song “Wait for U.”
Drake’s song “Spin Bout You” is a contender for the Best Melodic Rap Performance award. The song is a duet he recorded with 21 Savage, who is nominated for many awards this year.
Whatever the name of the category, Drake is now tied with three other artists for the fourth-most victories in it. With two of these prizes at home, he is firmly positioned on the same level as Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake, and Krayzie Bone.
For the Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance, Drake and 21 Savage must defeat a group of rappers, hip-hop celebrities, and one of the biggest names in R&B. Surprisingly, 21 Savage has to surpass himself since he and Burna Boy are up for nominations for their song “Sittin’ on Top of the World.” This time around, Doja Cat’s “Attention,” Lil Durk and J. Cole’s “All My Life,” and SZA’s “Low” are the other three titles nominated.
