Drake is criticizing the media for profiting off negativity and depressing young people
Drake Attacks the Journalism Industry for Profiting on Negativity
Drizzy posted an old lecture by recently departed University of Alabama football coach Nick Saban on Instagram on Wednesday, January 17. In the address, which was delivered on December 20, 2014, Saban chastises the media for how young players are portrayed in relation to their off-field transgressions.
“When somebody does something wrong, everybody wants to know, how are you gonna punish the guy?” Says Saban in a portion of the video. “But there’s not enough for 19 and 20-year-old kids people out there saying, ‘why don’t you give him another chance?'”
Drake expressed the same idea on his own Instagram Story.
In the screenshot below, Drizzy stated, “Journalistic world cashing out on negativity and discouraging the youth from finding their way more now than ever.” “The noise is all calculated keep pushing forward.”
Drake Is Still Possibly at Odds With Metro Boomin
Drizzy continues to ostensibly be at odds with Metro Boomin, which is why he made this statement about journalistic ethics. Drake celebrated the release of 21 Savage’s new album, American Dream, on January 12 by posting an Instagram Story.
In addition to highlighting “Just Like Me” with Burna Boy on his Instagram Story, Drizzy used silhouette emojis to hide Metro Boomin’s producing credit. This was most likely intended as a dig at the St. Louis producer, who Drake seems to have implicitly called a “tweeter and deleter” in December 2023. The comment seems to be directed against Metro for tweeting and removing his comments on Drake and 21’s Her Loss album winning more awards than Heroes & Villains.
