Cardi B and Offset fell prey to a swatting hoax at their Sandy Springs, Georgia home last year, as recent reports unveil. The incident occurred in the early hours of August 10, 2023, when law enforcement responded to a call alleging a shooting at the residence. The caller, describing the location as a “famous rapper’s house,” led officers to respond urgently with sirens and weapons drawn, suggesting that Cardi might have been harmed.

Upon reaching the scene, the police quickly determined the call to be a false alarm. Offset’s uncle, Derrick Cephus, who was looking after the property, confirmed that no one else was present. In a phone call with the police, Offset clarified the situation, emphasizing that they were in Los Angeles and labeling the call as a fake.

Despite having the caller’s phone number, the police pledged to launch an investigation into the swatting incident. Cardi B and Offset joined a list of celebrities, including Nicki Minaj, Pharrell, Paris Hilton, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and even the Playboy Mansion, who have fallen victim to similar fake emergency calls in recent times.

Ironically, around the time Cardi B and Offset were targeted, Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to address her own swatting incidents in early 2023, expressing gratitude for the detective work leading to a warrant for the swatter, Stephanie Bell. The District Attorney filed charges for the swatting call and a false report to DCFS, highlighting the consequences of such pranks.
