Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj perform onstage at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 12, 2023, in Newark, New Jersey.
On Sunday, Nicki Minaj made an announcement to her fans, expressing regret for delivering potentially disheartening news on the now rebranded social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).
“I won’t be able to perform tomorrow in #Chicago for Jingle Ball,” Minaj wrote the day before her scheduled headlining performance on December 4 as part of iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball Tour. She conveyed her excitement to see her fans and apologized sincerely, promising to make it up to them during the Chicago stops of her tour in early the following year, with details to follow.
However, Minaj also presented a backup plan. “HOWEVER!!!!! My beloved brother/boss stepped up for me so that I wouldn’t have to push my album back. His name is Lil Wayne AKA the GOAT. He will perform tomorrow @ the Chicago show,” she revealed.
The official concert listing on Ticketmaster has confirmed that Lil Wayne has replaced Minaj on the lineup at Allstate Arena. The “More Info” tab on the event’s page provides updated details about the show.
As of December 4, the lineup includes Lil Wayne, Jelly Roll, Big Time Rush, Doechii, (G)I-DLE, and Kaliii.
“I am STILL performing @ the #Atlanta Jingle Ball on the 14th, and now I’ll ALSO be performing at the #Miami Jingle Ball on the 16th. Album STILL dropping this FRIDAY,” Minaj assured her Barbz on Sunday.
Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 album, initially set for release on November 17, has been rescheduled for her birthday on December 8. This album follows Minaj’s 2018 release, Queen, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
Minaj recently expressed on Twitter, “This album is just beyond anything I could have imagined.”
