Looking back at the rift in legendary Michael Jordan’s intimate friendship because of… his son’s love affair
The top pair in NBA history, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, did not see eye to eye when one person’s child was preparing to marry the other’s ex-wife.
Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus Jordan, is preparing to marry Larsa Pippen – the ex-wife of former football player Scottie Pippen. Jordan and Pippen are the best duo in NBA history, winning six championships together with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.
Marcus Jordan, 32 years old, is Michael Jordan’s second son, 17 years younger than Larsa Pippen. Larsa has just completed divorce proceedings with Pippen in 2021. She is the second wife and has four children with the American basketball legend.

“Those who don’t like us can go to hell,” Marcus said in a recent podcast. “We complement each other in many aspects and live the way we want. My father said I can decide my own life. If I’m happy, he’s happy too.”
Jordan initially did not speak out about his son’s relationship with his ex-wife. But a paparazzi recently asked Jordan if he agreed with his son’s affair, and Jordan replied “no”. Marcus said his father was drunk at the time and was just joking.
Larsa was not famous when she married Pippen in 1997, but thanks to her ex-husband, she became a reality TV actress. The 49-year-old woman had an affair with a rapper before her marriage with Pippen broke down. She then dated NBA player Malik Beasley, a defender of the same age as her son Scotty Pippen Jr. at the Los Angeles Lakers.
The conflict between close friends Pippen and Jordan peaked after the romantic relationship between Marcus and Larsa was made public in September 2022. Pippen was previously unhappy with Jordan’s behavior when the player considered the greatest in the NBA did not share profits with his former Chicago Bulls teammates after the success of the 2020 documentary The Last Dance. Pippen was also disappointed after watching that movie on Netflix, because his image was blurred despite a major contribution to the Bulls’ success.

Jordan is currently the 379th richest person in the world, with an estimated fortune of three billion USD. Meanwhile, Pippen once earned 110 million USD in career salary and tens of millions in sponsorship money, but was defrauded of a lot of money and only had about 20 million USD left.
