Born on July 15, 1991, DERRICK FAVORS has gone through a significant period of competition in his career.

 

On April 9, 2010, Favors made the announcement that he will forego his last three years of collegiate eligibility in order to join the 2010 NBA draft. As a result of this decision, the New Jersey Nets selected Favors with the third overall choice in the draft. When Favors made his debut in the NBA, he was 19 years and 104 days old, making him the youngest player in the history of the Nets to ever take the court for the team. On October 31, 2010, in just his third game with the Nets, he achieved the first double-double of his career against the Miami Heat. He finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive, in a loss of 101–78.

 

Favors was sent to the New Orleans Pelicans on July 7, 2019, in exchange for two future selections in the second round of the draft. On his first game with the Pelicans, which took place on October 22 and ended in a loss to the Toronto Raptors 130–122 in overtime, he finished with six points, seven rebounds, and two assists. In a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 132–127 on November 14, Favors set a new career best with twenty rebounds, in addition to scoring twenty points and dishing out three assists. It was the first time in Favors’ career that he finished a game with twenty points and twenty rebounds. A loss to the Clippers by a score of 133–130 occurred on January 18, 2020, but he still managed to record a season-high 22 points, in addition to eleven rebounds, and three assists.

On November 25, 2020, Favors signed a three-year contract with the Utah Jazz in free agency that was worth a total of $27 million over the course of the deal. On the 23rd of December, he made his first appearance of the season for the Jazz, which resulted in a 120–100 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. He finished the game with ten points, seven rebounds, and three assists. In a game against the Los Angeles Clippers that took place on January 1, 2021, Favors recorded a season high in scoring with 14 points to go along with a game-high 11 rebounds and two assists. In a victory over the Detroit Pistons by a score of 96–86 on January 10, he set a new personal best with 14 rebounds while also scoring six points. On April 8, Favors surpassed Mehmet Okur to take tenth place on the all-time scoring record for the Jazz. Favors now has 7,257 points, one more than Okur. The Memphis Grizzlies were the opponent for the Utah Jazz in the opening round of the playoffs. On May 23, Favors participated in his first postseason game since 2019 and recorded twelve points, eleven rebounds, and four blocks in a loss that occurred in Game 1 of the 112–109 series. In the end, the Jazz prevailed in the series by taking five of the seven games, but in the second round, they were defeated by the Los Angeles Clippers in a series that went the full six games.
